I love this place! I tend to visit their branch on Cotham Hill the most because its literally a short walk around the corner from me, but I'd have to say that I probably prefer this little branch in the centre because it reminds me of being on holiday! This particular one is actually a little cart / booth right by the water front, the kind of stands that you get on holiday - and I love the waterfront in Bristol, especially on a sunny day...
Anyway on to the food... Falafel King is a pro vegetarian place, so brilliant for non meat eaters, and the food is really healthy so a great alternative from the greasy kebab shops all around the city! Their main thing is their falafel wraps (if you haven't had falafel before it's a chickpea style savoury), which are delicious - you can choose the salad fillings you want within the wrap too, and you really feel like you're getting some good food at this place! They also offer a selection of refreshments, and their prices are really good value too! I haven't got anything bad to say about this place, and I think its brilliant little place! Definitely give it a try, and you won't be disappointed. -

The falafel king is always a must-stop for me in Bristol. The food comes quick, tastes excellent, and the portion size is sure to fill you. You can run once you have it or stay to enjoy sitting by the floating harbour.

The mighty King has been ruling over the waterfront for around a decade now, surveying all he sees from his bright green van, serving up healthy fare to his devoted disciples since way before all that not-wanting-to-eat-yourself-to-an-early-grave-because-Jamie-Oliver-reckons-it's-bad-idea became the norm.
The reason for his success is obvious: the food is simple, delicious and comes in either big or really big portions. I still personally rue the loss of the fulle madamas from the menu, but the might falafel (with all the sauces) provides a worthy substitute and gives you all the energy you need to run the gauntlet that is the city centre's bars and clubs. Oh, and there's plenty of chilli sauce on hand for those are seeking a healthy kebab alternative.
Fast food is dead - long live the King! -

So AMAZING that we came twice in 24 hours.
I remembered that running down after seminars to grab a falafel before we go shopping was a regular occurrence as university students; I just didn't remember just how damn good these falafels were.
Sure, they are not as mealy or spiced as one might like it but it is fresh fried to perfection every time. Plenty of salad( "those girls do know how to stuff a pitta") and as much as you want of tahini, garlic mayo, mango pickle and chilli sauce.
I just wished I knew how good falafels were when drunk as a student- I would have eaten way fewer kebabs! -

If you're tired of the traditional kebab or bag of chips on the way home from a night on the tiles, Falafel King is an awesome alternative and (whisper it oh so quietly) it's actually not that bad for you. And, (again whisper it quietly) there isn't even any meat in it, but your brain thinks that there is. So it's perfect for the veggies too.
I often find myself getting a little bored around 11 o'clock and the call of the Falafel wagon is oh so tempting. It's a little sad but half the time I have to give into my cravings for a falafel in a pita around midnight and simply head on over there. I'm glad I did every time.
The other amazing thing about Falafel King as apposed to other late night fast food or kebab shops, is their food more than stands up to the day time sobriety test. Usually the thought of eating a dirty kebab in the middle of the day is enough to turn your stomach, but not the Falafel King. I recommend it as a quick lunch time snack to anyone.
